Digital Photo Booth at Highline Summer Party

Remember summer? MVS Studio Digital Photo Booth shot some great out door images against an awesome “green” background at the Highline Summer Party this year, which was sponsored by coach. The generous sponsorship allowed every ticket purchased to the summer party went towards helping the Friends of the High Line keep the park clean, the plants beautiful, and the public engaged through free art, tours, talks, and kids’ activities all year long. The Highline is one of the our favorite things about  New York City, and we were proud to send our most popular, robust booth to document all the action!

A Brief History of the Highline

The Highline is an elevated train line that runs along 10th ave in Chelsea and is a reflection of the area’s industrial past. Built in 1934, it runs from 34th Street to St John’s Park Terminal, at Spring Street, and was designed to go through the center of blocks, rather than over the avenue, carrying goods to and from Manhattan’s largest industrial district. The last train ran along the line in 1980, and the area is now known for a vibrant gallery, restaurant and nightlife scene. In 1999, The Friend’s of the Highline began to advocate for the preservation and transformation of the unused rail line as public open space. The highline was transformed into a sustainable, green public walkway in 2009 by a collaborative team of James Corner Field Operations, a landscape architecture firm, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf, planting designer. Owned by the City of New York, the High Line is a public park maintained, operated, and programmed by Friends of the High Line, in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. A magnet for tourists and New Yorkers alike, the Highline is a true gem, full of wonderful surprises and vistas for viewing our city in action.
